Closing ceremony of 'Mare Nostrum' Scientific Campuses

Today, 27^th July, the University of Murcia will hold in Espinardo the closing ceremony of the Summer Scientific Campuses 2012, promoted and financed by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), with the collaboration of Obra Social “La Caixa”.

Mr. José Ignacio Fernández Vera, Chief Manager of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), and Mr. Juan Mª Vázquez, General Director of Scientific and Technical Research at the Ministry of Economy and Competitiviness (MINECO), will lead the closing ceremony of the 4 week-cycle of scientific dissemination and training courses addressed to Spanish students. The courses took place in universities awarded a Campus of International Excellence.

In Murcia, where 4 courses were taught by teachers from public universities and secondary schools in the region (“Food for a healthy life” “Mathematics and Physics for Telecommunications”, “H20, a very special particle” and “Biotechnology”), 120 students took part in the programme of activities for the promotion of the scientific vocation.

All through the courses, students got to know laboratories and facilities first hand, such as the farm at the Faculty of Veterinary or the Research Services of the University of Murcia, and they combined academic knowledge with leisure activities like astronomic observations or concerts.
