A researcher on Agricultural Enginnering awarded at European level for his contributions to soil sciences

The researcher of the School of Agricultural Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Raúl Zornoza, has been awarded the yearly prize to the young outstanding researcher, section of soil sciences.
The mention, awarded by the European Geosciences Union, is the most prestigious prize in the field of Earth Sciences.
Zornoza is an expert in the restoration of degrading lands and the assessment of environmental quality.
Raúl Zornoza belongs to the Department of Science and Agricultural Technology since 2009, where he researches in the group of Management, Exploitation and Restoration of soils and waters.
The researcher has been awarded for his innovating contribution to soil sciences, more particularly, for the development of different methodologies to assess the quality of soil, using blended physical, chemical and micro-biotic properties.
The researcher of the UPCT is the author of several articles in well internationally recognised reviews, like Soil Biology and Biochemistry, Geoderma or Applied Soil Ecology.
Raúl Zornoza will collect his prize during the Congress of the European Geosciences Union, to take place in Vienna in April 2013. The event will gather more than 10.000 scientists and more than 15.000 original Communications.
