Two students from the University of Murcia have participated one more year as members of the international jury composed of 18 international students to designate the UNIMED Award 2024 to a film committed with cultural diversity, freedom of cultural expression and exchange, within the 81st edition of Venice International Film Festival.

UNIMED (Mediterranean Universities Union) is an association of 168 universities from 25 universities of Euro-Mediterranean which aims to develop the university, research and educational activity, encouraging the scientific, cultural, social and economic cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean area, and which the University of Murcia is part of through Campus Mare Nostrum since 2019.

The 8th edition of the festival’s collateral prize was held, consolidating as the result of the collaboration between the Biennale di Venezia and the network of Mediterranean Universities.

This time, the film selected for its cultural diversity by the international jury composed of students from universities associated with UNIMED  was ‘The Brutalist’ by the film director Brady Corbet.

The prize was awarded on the 6th of September, being part of that jury María Mesa and Ana María García, students of the Audiovisual Communication Degree of our university. The participation in this activity is managed and financed by the Excellence Campus Mare Nostrum, as an activity intended for students from the University of Murcia.

Participation in this event is supported from the International Excellence Campus Mare Nostrum and the Vice-rectorate for Students and Employment, thanks to the annual call for grants ‘Acciones Especiales’[1] aimed at students from the University of Murcia. Students who Will attend the event were chosen by the organisers from UNIMED and have received specific training sessions. CMN provides the grant up  to 500 euros to fund the travel and accommodation expenses, given that subsistence, possible tickets, or local transport will be paid by the organisation.
