Mediterranean

The Mediterranean region is an area of great interest in a limited geographical area shared by 17 countries in three continents. This area possesses a unique territorial richness and cultural heritage, although it also faces the challenge of maintaining a delicate balance between environmental, productive, social and economic interests. The Union for the Mediterranean and the European Committee of Regions, in which the Region of Murcia plays and will play a key role in the coming years, have appointed a set of strategic objectives for the Mediterranean Region. Because the Mediterranean area is an interest of the States and European Regions, a Campus specialized on the Mediterranean should be included in the Campus of International Excellence programme  map in Spain.

The CMN is located in different cities of the Region of Murcia with an average distance of 45 km between them. It is well connected by a network of expressways and highways, two airports (finalisation of the international airport in Corvera scheduled for 2013), ports and high-speed rail (AVE finalisation scheduled for 2014), allowing for convenient travel between all the countries of the Mediterranean basin.
