Born in Aguilas, Murcia (1964), Juan María Vázquez Rojas is Vice-Chancellor of Research and International Excellence at the University of Murcia and General Coordinator of the Campus of International Excellence Mare Nostrum 37/38. Professor in the Department of Animal Medicine and Surgery, Founding Member of the European College of Animal Reproduction and Full Member of the academies of Veterinary Medicine and Sciences of the Region of Murcia.
Juan María Vázquez has authored more than 180 research papers and has supervised 13 doctoral theses. He has collaborated on some 45 projects and national and international research agreements and has acted as plenary speaker at a number of conferences. Author of two patents issued in some 20 countries. Member of 3 editorial boards of international journals and 2 executive committees of international scientific societies.
He currently serves on the National Board of Directors for the R&D Sector of the Conference of Vice-Chancellors of Spanish Universities as well as on the Senate of the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI).
